County Superintendent of Schools
The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) office acts as an intermediate service agency between the California Department of Education and the 38 school districts in San Bernardino County to help meet the educational needs of all children countywide. Working in partnership with our school districts, other agencies and the community at large, SBCSS provides many services, programs, information, and leadership—always with a focus on students.
ROP Consortium Board of Directors
The ROP Consortium Board of Directors are responsible for the formulation, adoption, and amendment of policies not in conflict with the responsibility of the County Superintendent and authority of the County Board of Education. The Directors of the Regional Occupational Program (ROP) are the San Bernardino County Superintendent, the San Bernardino County Assistant Superintendent overseeing the ROP, and the Superintendents of the member districts.
Under the direction of the County ROP Program Manager, the central administrative office carries out the program management for the County Superintendent of Schools, establishes the future direction of the program, and sets in motion strategies to achieve identified goals. Administrative responsibilities include program planning and course development, attendance accounting, adherence to legal and data reporting requirements, professional development, and evaluation of program effectiveness, as well as other supportive functions.
An important part of the governance structure of the SBCSS ROP is the ROP Consortium, which is made up of representatives from each district. Although the representatives come with varying titles, they all have the responsibility for administering the ROP in their respective district. The ROP Consortium serves as a general advisory group to the ROP Program Manager.
